  1. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WILL DISCUSS AND/OR TAKE ACTION ON THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
  2. Board Member Vacancies —Discussion on when to increase board membership. It was suggested to leave the openings vacant to allow for potential industry/corporate participation.  No action taken.
  3. Bank Account –Mary Hansen gave an update on the 501c3 status of NCAI, and a bank account cannot be opened until fully registered. No action taken.
  4. Website Development – Discussed future need for official website of NCAI. David McCreary volunteered to secure a URL for website, and to begin researching potential design options.  No action taken.
  5. SB 747 Status – Sarah Johnson from the California Airports Council gave an update on the status of SB747 sponsored by Senatro Miek McGuire. The bill is currently in suspense in Appropriations. Johnson shard that there is an educational component to the bill.  Suggested that this is an “access to education” issue as the financial hurdle of pilot education/training is significant.  Asked that interested parties actively support the bill in January 2016, and be willing to testify.
  6. Golden West Regional Airshow – Mary Hansen and Gill Wright presented updates on the Golden West Regional Airshow scheduled for October 17th. Focus will be on pilots and the event suitable for families.  EAA chapters participating.  RC/UAVs may be able to participate if a plan is approved by the FAA in advance.  A safety seminar on UAVs may be part of the show.
  7. Recommended Pilot Training Pathway – Reviewed Pilot Training Pathway document. Discussed goal to develop scholarship program to support students on pathway.
  8. Pilot Training Scholarship Program – Continued scholarship discussion. Discussed need to develop award selection standards and standards for use of scholarship funds.
  9. Career Pathways Trust Grant Update –Chris Mahurin shared that the regional effort (Northern California STREAM Pathway Consortium) was awarded. Thanked Randy Page, Eric Pomeroy, and Sutter County Office of Education for their successful efforts.  Out of the grant, funding for aerospace pathway is approximately 100K.
  10. College, Career, and K-12 Program updates
    • Aviation Day at State Capitol, Aerospace Day, Career Fair

–Shared about the successful events hosted and participated in by CORE @ The Camptonville Academy. Thanked many of the local aerospace representatives that participated to make the event successful for students.

  1. CORE Aerospace STEM Academy — Announced that CORE @ Camptonville Academy will offer an Aerospace STEM program for 7th and 8th graders beginning in the 2015-2016 school year.
  2. Eagle’s Nest Project – Dallan Reese shared information about the Eagle’s Nest Project where students are mentored to build FAA certified Light Sport aircraft (RV-12). Initial investment of approximately 80K is needed for materials.  Potentially the project is sustainable as the aircraft is sold by a non-profit and a new kit purchased.  Students earn up to 20 hours of flight instruction with the program.  Discussion that this is potentially a good “gateway project” for students considering aerospace pathway options.
