  1. CALL TO ORDER–The meeting was called to order on August 14, 2015 at 0835 at Yuba County Airport, CA.
  1. ATTENDANCE–Individuals in attendance were as follows: James K. Bonner, Les Sanders, Kevin Goehring, Mike Davis, Jim Callaghan, Phil Daisher, Daryl Katcher, Ron Davis, Tom Sherman, Dalan Reese, David Lane, David McCreary, Chris Mahurin, Gill Wright, Mary Hansen

  2. Approval of June 11, 2015 – Regular Meeting
  1. COMMENTS FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC CONCERNING ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA:

  1. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WILL DISCUSS AND/OR TAKE ACTION ON THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
  2. Non-Profit Registration Status—Mary Hansen gave an updated on the non-profit status of NCAI. The non-profit has been issued a tax identification number. An adjustment to the Articles of Incorporation was needed to finalize the non-profit status with both California and the IRS.  It is expected to have all approvals by next scheduled meeting.
  3. Certificate of Amendment of the Articles of Incorporation –Discussion about the proposed Amendment of the Articles of Incorporation. The Amendment of the Articles of Incorporation was approved unanimously.
  4. Board Member Vacancies—Discussion about expanding board membership. Must maintain odd number of board members and goal is to have a balance between representatives of education and aeronautics industry partners.  It was suggested to reach out to an airlines and aircraft manufactures for future vacancies.  Encouraged members to bring nominations to next meeting. No action taken.
  5. Website Development –Discussion about domain name options for NCAI. David McCreary secured two domain names for NCAI: norcalaero.org & norcalaerospace.org.  Discussion regarding need to created content for launching NCAI website.
  6. SB 747 Status—Mary Hansen shared an updated from Sarah Johnson(California Airports Council). Yuba County Airport currently does not receive county funds.  SB 747 could offer needed funds for county airports.  Potentially over 100 million in discussion derived from aviation fuel taxes that.  There is also an education to the bill.
  7. Golden West Regional Airshow— Golden West Regional Airshow will be held at Yuba County Airport on Saturday, October 17th. The event will focus on pilots.  It will include safety seminars, EAA Chapter competitions, and UAS/drone demonstrations.
  8. Reno Air Races – Aviation Learning Center – Call for Presenters—Pete Parker (Pathways to Aviation) extended an invitation for NCAI members to speak in the educational tent at the air races.
  9. Pilot Training Pathway & Scholarship Program—Discussed the need to create standards for scholarship program, and for proper use of the funds.
  10. Eagle’s Nest Project—Chris Mahurin shared information from Bob Kelly, founder of the Eagle’s Nest Project. Kelly has started a new organization called Aviation Nation.  Handout shared, “Answers to some questions.”  Discussed benefits of a project for students.  Committee was created to explore the idea, to include:  Tom Sherman, David Lane, Dallan Reese, Chris Mahurin.
  11. Embry Riddle Dual Enrollment—Discussed Dual Enrollment program now offered by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. This is an option for high schools to offer Embry Riddle courses locally.  Also, it is an option for students to take courses online.
  12. Career Pathways Trust Grant Update—Grant has been awarded to the Northern California STREAM Pathway Consortium. Over 100K is dedicated to support aeronautical career pathways in the region.
  13. College, Career, and K-12 Program updates—CORE Aerospace STEM Academy is opening to serve 30 7th & 8th grade students. The school is working to have the high school model aeronautics and aviation courses be offered through Tri-County ROP.
